Magpies is published five times a year and contains reviews of current children's and young adult books as well as articles related to children's books and reading. The journal is subscribed to by librarians, teachers, parents, authors and editors of children's books, and academics in the field of education and literature.
Articles submitted should deal with an aspect of children's literature and should be no longer than 2 500 words in length. Articles may be submitted by mail or via email. Writers should be familiar with the journal and have an understanding of the type of material published before submitting articles.
Please allow four months for a decision on publication.
Payment is received on publication.
All books are reviewed by members of our panel of reviewers.

The Literature Base
The Literature Base is published four times a year and contains suggestions on ways of using litetature within the classroom. Articles submitted should be relevant to the classroom situation suggesting innovative ways in which to approach various curriculum topics through the use of literature.
Articles should be no more than 2000 words in length. Supporting photographs and samples of work are appreciated. Articles may be submitted by mail or via email. Writers should be familiar with the journal and have an understanding of the type of material published before submitting articles.
